Within The Darkness

Darkness is a quiet place
That I often like to dwell
Its where I like to hide
When my life is pure hell.

Its a cold, damp, secluded spot.
A place my very own.
I'm hiding from reality.
Its where I can be alone!

When the light shines in my eyes,
and I can no longer see.
I close them against the sun,
and it allows me to be free.

When memories of my past haunt me
and flood my tortured mind.
I hide within the darkness
and it helps me to unwind!

It allows me a peace within,
and comforts my tormented soul.
The darkness is my friend.
Its where I often go.

And if I shall never return,
or see the light of day.
My heart will be at rest,
and the darkness is where I'll stay!
